СППУ может подвешиваться стволами назад, проводя огонь в хвост при выходе из атаки. Стрельба при этом ведется без прицеливания, однако завеса снарядов защищает от возможного обстрела вдогонку. СППУ применяется на самолетах Су-17, Су-25.
