Armorican SOCKETED AXEHEAD
Description
English: Complete copper-alloy socketed axe with single loop. Rectangular-sectioned mouth with rounded corners. Straight blade. Prominent single collar at mouth, with moulded horizontal ridge below on front and reverse sides. Upper edge unevenly finished. Circular perforation slightly to the left of and below the loop. Two holes on the opposite side to the loop, due to the thinness of the body in these areas. Very prominent casting sprues remaining on all seams. Width of loop uneven. L: 132 W. mouth: 29 B. mouth: 40.5 Socket dims.: 22-30 W. loop: 5.5-9. Part of a hoard of 68 Armorican socketed axeheads.
