Description
English: Near the top of the steep hill in Section 4 of Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, in the United States. The photographer is standing on Jesup Drive, looking north at Section 47 and Section 25. Much of the western third of the cemetery is on steep, high hills and ridges. The southernmost of these is encircled by Pershing Drive to the north, and Jesup Drive to the east and south. Dewey Drive is a spur which forms a circle on top of the hill in Section 4. The low valley due north of this position is bounded to the west by another steep hill in Section 34, an eastward-jutting spur-ridge (on which Miles Drive is located), and the steep hill on which Memorial Amphitheater and the Tomb of the Unknowns is located (Sections 35, 7a, and 48). Porter Avenue is nestled in a deep east-west valley between Miles Drive and the Amphitheater hill.
