These African falls are brokenup by a very large number of smallislands at the very edge, while the Niag-ara Falls are obstructed only by the littleisland of Luna and the larger GoatIsland. But, including these, NiagaraFalls had a breadth of a mile along thecrest line before the curtailment of fourhundred and fifteen feet for one of thepresent power companies. With theimpending destruction of the Falls thetotal breadth will be reduced from overa mile to 1,600 feet in circumference, anda diameter of from 1,200 feet to 800 feetand what remains of the Falls will be allCanadian.
