The number of worms in cock-roaches which have been fed on thefeces of infected rats varies greatly;there may be none, a few, severaldozen, or several hundred. As a ruleFibiger used the cockroaches 85 to 90days after beginning the feedings withinfected rat feces, but only a smallpart of the nematodes succeed in ob-taining a lodging in the tongue, throat,gullet or stomach of the rat.
