Identification on verso, left (handwritten and stamped): Federal Art Project W.P.A.; Photographic Division; 13 East 37th St.; New York City Identification on verso, right (handwritten and stamped): Title: U.S. Military Academy; Artist: George Pearse Ennis; Medium: Stained Glass Identification on accompanying label (typewritten): ONE OF THE PROCESSES IN MAKING A STAINED GLASS WINDOW Archibald d. [sic] Sawyer, successor to George Parse [sic] Ennis, original designer of the WPA stained glass window for the Washington Hall, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, is shown tracing a cartoon of one of the twelve panels. Upon Mr. Sawyer's death the work was completed by Oscar H. Julius and recently installed in the mess hall of the Academy. The window designed under the auspices of the WPA Federal Art Project will be presented by Audrey McMahon, Assistant to the National Director Holger Cahill, to Major General Connor, Commandant of the Academy. |
