CASIMIR DE CANDOLLE 1836-1018 (Avec un portrait).
Anne Casimir Pyramus de Candolle est né le 20 février1836. Il fut élevé à Genève par ses parents et fréquenta diverses institutions scolaires jusqu'au Gymnase libre. Son père, Alph.de Candolle, l'envoya alors à Paris, où il fut reçu bachelier ès sciences en 1853 et licencié ès sciences physiques en 1857. Il y étudia principalement la physique et les mathématiques en compagnie de son ami Lucien de la Rive et la chimie sous la direction de Berthelot qui était alors le préparateur de Ballard. Après avoir terminé ses études à Paris, il fit un séjour d'une certaine durée en Angleterre dans la maison du mycologue Berkeley pour s'y perfectionner dans la langue anglaise. En 1859, il fit un voyage en Algérie, pour y visiter les forêts de chêne-liège dans lesquelles sa famille avait des intérêts. Il passa un hiver à Berlin vers 1860. En 1863, il épousait Mlle Anna Marcet
