Italiano: Architrave decorato, seconda metà XII secolo, antica Cattedrale di San Pietro di Alessandria.
Nello specifico si tratta della mensola sinistra dello stipite laterale, che reggeva l'architrave della porta principale della torre civica. L'elemento decorativo è ridotto ad una sola mano, nascente da foglie lobate, estrema sintesi di una figura telamonica, che si ritrova anche nel portale laterale della pieve di Gavi (seconda metà XII secolo). I resti dell'architrave fanno parte di una serie di ritrovamenti alla luce delle indagini archeologiche, effettuate nella piazza principale di Alessandria tra il 2002 e il 2003, per sondare le fondamenta della antica cattedrale, demolita su ordine di Napoleone nel 1803. |
