This independent utility layout isdesigned for greater economy of critical materialsand perpetual accessibility without breaking uppavements. A well-landscaped public park, rarely used inthe past, adjoins the project and now becomes aprimary asset. Its situation is such that it relatesquite naturall-i* to the project site, and consequent-ly there is a continuous flow of free space betweenthe park and through the project. Electrically lit tunnels and underpasses forpedestrians have been built under the main proj-ect street at two points. Thus the tenants can walksafely from one part of the project to the other,and there is a continuous unobstructed flow offoot traffic between the residential to the recreation-al area and the central free space. ned for the project and thus far a communitybuilding and child care center, with indoor andoutdoor play space, a garden craft center, and a10,000 square foot business and market center, afirehouse, utility and storage building have beenbuilt. An infirmary and an elementary school are planned but not yet under construction. The gar-den craft center is of particular interest as an ex-periment. A plant dispensary, green nursery andlath house have been provided, and here the ten-ants who are interested can learn all about gar-dening and the growing of plants.
