CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE FLOORS FOR APARTMENT BUILDINGS AND RESIDENCE:! The integrally colored concrete floor finish in this building has been marked off in squares with a cuttinltool. Highly polished with wax, this type of floor harmonizes with the quiet dignity of the interior dedoration. Applied Colors Probably the simplest finishes are ob-tained by applying color directly to the con-crete after the surface has dried. A mellow,glossy and mottled finish is obtained withinorganic stains, applied with a mop orbrush and allowed to react with the cementuntil the desired effect is achieved. Then,when the stain has thoroughly dried, thefloor may be waxed and polished. Perhaps a more intense surface color isdesired. Painting is one way to get it, butpaint should not be applied to new concretewithout certain preparations. The naturalalkalinity of the concrete must be neutral-ized.
