For this purpose some 20.000square feet of three-ply membrane water-proofing was used. Damp proofing of theexterior walls was accomplished by meansof a heavy coat of an elastic waterproofingcompound after which these v/alls werefurred with 2 inch furring tile andplastered. To reduce the annoying reverberationsproduced by the sound reflecting concreteceiling panels, these were lined with a com-mercial sound absorptive board that wassubsequently found to be very satisfactory. The sound insulation board was applied intwo j/?^*^^ layers. The first layer waslaid in the forms and the concrete pouredon. Due to the prevalence of termites, allViood framing was given termite treatment.This consisted of a moderately heavy appli-cation of creosote.
