The builders have made use of factory-made parts to a large degree. Wall ma-terials, for instance, have been fabricatedin shops, cut into standard shapes andtransported to the fair grounds and ap-plied to the steel frames with clips orscrews. The materials are of light weight.They are easy to handle. They requireless steel. As a result of economies, someof the buildings of the 1933 Worlds Fairhave been built at a cost less than that ofstructures in the 1893 Worlds Fair whenthe price of materials and wages of laborwere lower than those existing today. The temporary nature of the expositionhas permitted lighter work stress in thesteel structure. The architects have nothad to allow for the unknown ravages of THE ARCHITECT .^^D ENGINEER ■^ 13 ^ JUNE.
