. In the time of King Edward it was worth four pounds,afterwards 60s, then 40s, now 100s. Turgis held it of KingEdward. The same Adamf holds of the Bishop, Stanefelle. Itanswers for two sulings. In demesne there is one team, andten villeins have two teams, a church there, and six serfs, andtwo acres of meadow, wood for sixty hogs. In the time ofKing Edward it was worth 60s, afterwards 40s, now 100s.Turgis held it of Earl Godwin. On Odos disgrace Adam de Port held under the King,and was succeeded by Arnnlph de Eade, J who gave the manorof Stalisfield to the Knight Templars, together with Ore, andall appertaining thereto. Tenths were paid to the Bishop ofRochester.§ Stalisfield and Ore, on the suppression of the KnightTemplars, passed to the Knight Hospitallers of St. Johnsome time previous to Prior Leonard de Tybertiss report to theGrand Master at Rhodes in 1338. THE KNIGHT HOSPITALLERS IN KENT. 251 Stalisfield* and Ore, as having one messuage with 124 acres ofland, twenty of meadow, and forty acres of pasture, let tofarm from year to year at the pleasure of the Priory ofClerkenwell, paying each year .... 40 marcs. On the suppression of the Order tlie property was divided,the manor of Stalisfield being granted to Ralph Fane, Esq.,which was valued at 8 pounds, and the manor of Ore toRichard Morris and his assigns, Thomas Alday and Jeremiah.Alday, for 12 pounds 8 shillings and 4 pence. Stroud, Strotjde, or Strode, Originally appertaining to the Bishop of Rochester inthe time of Odo, Bishop of Bayeux,f it was with otherestates of this rebellious Prince escheated to the Crown, andgiven in the eleventh year of Henry III.J to the KnightTemplars.
