Title
Arch Park dedication
Description
A view of, from left to right, Columbus Mayor Tom Moody, C&SOE president Ben T. Ray, and Columbus Parks and Recreation director Melvin Dodge, at the podium during the dedication ceremony for Arch Park. The park contained the only remaining arch from the third Union Station, designed by architect, Daniel Hudson Burnham and opened in 1897. The arch was a part of the Beaux Arts style entrance facade that was at street level on North High Street. Arch Park was located at Marconi Boulevard and West Hickory Street. Plans to move the arch there were made shortly after the Union Station was demolished on October 22, 1976. See also: "Arch Park Dedicated" in the Columbus Dispatch, June 7, 1980, page B-9.
