Rückseite: CONCORDI-A AVGGG I // CONOB. Constantinopolis sitzt auf einem Thron mit einem Zepter in der r. Hand und einem Globus in der l. Hand in der Vorderansicht. Am r. Fuss ein Schiffsbug (prora). Die Thronlehnen sind mit Löwenköpfen verziert.

Kommentar: Arcadius wurde wohl 377 n. Chr. geboren und war der älteste Sohn des Theodosius I. und der Aelia Flaccilla. Am 19.1.383 wurde er zum Augustus ernannt. Bis auf seine äußerst schöne Handschrift sind von ihm keinerlei besondere Fähigkeiten bekannt, die Regierungsgeschäfte führte seine Umgebung. Arcadius war der Vater des Theodosius und vierer Töchter. Er regierte den Ostteil des seit 395 n. Chr. geteilten Reiches bis zu seinem Tode am 1.5.408 n. Chr. während sein Bruder Honorius den Westen übernahm.
