Description
Français : Le roi est assis, de trois quarts vers la gauche, sur une branche. Il tient un sceptre dans sa main gauche. Il est coiffé d’un chapeau encerclé par une couronne. Les quatre rois ou prophètes faisaient partie d’un ensemble représentant l’arbre de Jessé. Chacun est assis sur une branche de cet arbre. Datés du XVe siècle, ils proviendraient du centre de la France. D’après le donateur, quelques fonds bleus sont des pièces de restauration, dont plusieurs sont des verres anciens réemployés. La qualité du dessin et l’harmonie des couleurs sont remarquables.

Français : Jean-Guy Violette a acquis ce vitrail en novembre 1969 à Paris, lors d’une vente aux enchères tenue à l’hôtel Drouot. Achat par l’Université Laval en 1972. Autrefois, il faisait partie de la collection du peintre verrier Michel Acézat. Il aurait été réalisé par des maîtres verriers du centre de la France.
