Arbete på stapelbädd vid Lindholmens varv
Description
Vid sekelskiftet utfördes en stor del av varvsarbetet manuellt. Teknologin och arbetsmetodiken hade i stort befunnit sig på samma nivå sedan 1870-talets övergång från trä till järn och segel till ånga. Yrkesmännens skicklighet och enkla verktyg var minst lika viktigt som de maskiner som fanns i verkstäderna. Ute på stapelbäddarna och i reparationsdockan var arbetet tvunget att utföras utan maskinella hjälpmedel eftersom ångkraften inte kunde transmitteras. All nitning skedde med handslägga. _x000D__x000D_I bilden ser man hur utvecklingen har nått ett nytt stadium. Tryckluftsdrivna nithammare har introducerats, kranar har tillkommit stapelbädden och konstruktionsprocessen har blivit mer mekaniserad.
