English: Approach cutting to Drewton Tunnel, Little Weighton, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Soon after leaving Hull the Hull & Barnsley's Railway had to pass through the southern spur of the Yorkshire Wolds. This was accomplished by a series of deep chalk cuttings and tunnels and a six mile climb at 1 in 100. The longest tunnel was Drewton 1 mile 354yds requiring an approach cutting 1½ miles long and 83ft deep. This section of the line closed in 1964. |
