Title
Applied disc BROOCH
Description
English: Copper-alloy and lead-alloy applied disc brooch. Circular, with single lug for hinged pin, deep catch-plate intact; pin missing. Little of the applied lead-alloy decoration survives, but it appears to represent an inner border of radiate triangles with a solid triangle within one of the large triangles. Slight iron corrosion on reverse from missing pin.

Diameter: 34mm. Thickness: 4mm. Width of catchplate: 12mm. Length of catchplate: 10.5mm. Thickness of applied decoration: c. 2mm.

It is unusual that the applied part of the brooch is in lead-alloy, rather than copper-alloy or gilt foil. Perhaps this is not actually the applied decorative element but merely the solder that originally held a thin foil. Compare SOMDOR-5C2CA7.
