Summary
[edit]DescriptionApesthorpe cemetery - geograph.org.uk - 715308.jpg |
English: Apesthorpe cemetery Four of the last few headstones in the long-disused and overgrown cemetery near Habblesthorpe, guarded by an impenetrable mass of nettles in summer. The lost parish of Apesthorpe (or Applesthorpe) once had its own church dedicated to St.Peter, described as ruinous for over a century in 1848, with just 109 parishioners. The burial ground was inclosed in 1833 and remained in use until the early 20th century. [Thanks to David Hinde for this information] |
