Description
Nederlands: De 1e Nederlandse Apache-gevechtshelikopters zijn terug uit Mali. 2 toestellen zijn vanochtend per C-17 Globemaster-transportvliegtuig aangekomen op Vliegbasis Woensdrecht. De helikopters zijn ruim 2,5 jaar ingezet voor VN-missie Minusma in Mali.

Om in de C-17 te passen waren de gevechtshelikopters al deels ontmanteld op Kamp Castor in Gao. Zo verwijderde onderhoudspersoneel de rotorbladen. Nu ze terug zijn in Nederland krijgen de toestellen bij het Logistiek Centrum Woensdrecht een grote onderhoudsbeurt. Tijdens een zogenoemde 500-uurs inspectie worden ze volledig nagekeken en opgeknapt. Ook krijgen ze een grote update en een grondige post-desert-inspectie, waarbij ze uit elkaar worden gehaald, gecontroleerd en van zand ontdaan. Over zo’n 25 weken worden de helikopters weer in gebruik genomen op Vliegbasis Gilze-Rijen.
