Les Berkleys aggrandirent & embellirent beaucoup ce Chateau avecIargent quils tirerent de la rancon des prifonniers faits a la bataille dePoitiers. On a bati dans linterieur de ce Chateau une grande Ferme fort commode,occupee aauellement par Mr. Tugwell, connu pour avoir perfedlione, enbien des points, les inftrumens propres a 1agriculture. LEftampe reprefente le S. E. du Chateau & de la Ferme, avec une partiede leglife de Beverftone. Le Plan en a ete tire en 1776. N • V

MARIE Is pleafantly fituated without the walls of the city, having a gentle declivityfrom its weftern front to the river Oufe; it is bounded on the eaft by Boo-tham, on the north by St. Marys gate, and on the fouth by the walls of thecity and the multangular tower. The area on which this once magnificentAbbey flood, is about three quarters of a mile in circumference.
