Description

Español: El art decó es movimiento enfocado principalmente a las artes decorativas que tuvo su esplendor entre los años 1920 a 1939 y cuyas influencias se presentaron principalmente en Europa y en América. En este estilo particular se identificaron como características primordiales la utilización de figuras geométricas y lujosos elementos en los que claramente la parte decorativa estaba por encima de la funcionalidad. Panamá no fue ajena a la tendencia que marcó parte del siglo XX y aunque en cantidad limitada, existen en el Casco Antiguo edificaciones donde claramente se refleja esta propuesta arquitectónica, tal es el caso de la propiedad que en su momento perteneció a la familia Duque y que hoy es un condominio. En este que es uno de los edificios más modernos en el conjunto monumental, se reflejan aspectos característicos del art decó como lo son las figuras geométricas y el esmero en la parte estética. Fue construido en momentos en que la apuesta de las familias pudientes de la época estaba enfocada a construir en nuevos y florecientes sectores ubicados a cierta distancia del Casco Antiguo.
