English: From the Langlade County Historical Society's recreation of the Antigo stop on the Northwester railroad. The 440 Locomotive is a 2-8-0- Baldwin, constructed in 1900, it is a close relative of the Chicago & Northwestern 175, the last steam engine to travel through Antigo in 1957. In 2005 the Langlade County Historical Society had a major fundraiser to restore the engine as a static, non-working display. In 2006 construction added the roof for the locomotive and the caboose. Finally in 2008 a railroad park was added with benches, clock, luggage carts, and donor plaques. . |
