Anthony McOwen Dead. Ex-Tax Commissioner Succumbs to Auto Truck Injuries. Anthony, McOwen, who was the first Coroner in the Borough of the Bronx and was long a prominent member of Tammany Hall, died yesterday in Bellevue Hospital of injuries received on October 8, when an auto truck ran over him as he was crossing Third Avenue at Twenty-ninth Street. Last Saturday his right leg was amputated. He was born in County Wicklow, Ireland, in 1842, came to this country as a boy and later entered the building and real estate business in the Bronx. He was an intimate friend of Richard Croker, was formerly President of the old Seneca Club, and had been Clerk of the Morrisania Court and a Tax Commissioner. In the last Memorial Day parade he was Grand Marshal of the Bronx G.A.R. Veterans. He lived with his daughter, Mrs. Ella Grasselly, at 1,311 Plimpton Avenue.
