Description
English: Store web page description: "an original 2 1/2” x 3 1/2” wood engraved view “THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY COMPANY’S WORKS” (Ansonia, near Shelton, CT).

"The accompanying column-long article reads, 'We are living in what may very appropriately be called the Age of Electricity, so important has the influence of that marvelous power become upon many of the affairs of every-day life [...] Prominent among works engaged in this branch of manufacture are those of the company named in our caption, a view of which, in part, is given in the [text on web page interrupted] took up at first the manufacture of insulated wire, cables, electrical instruments, and electric light carbons. The original factory (the one shown in the [wood]cut) was a four-story brick structure 100 x 150 feet in area. During the past year this building was extended to double the size named, and at present the works give employment to over 150 men [...] It began as an offshoot of Wallace & Sons’ brass manufactory at Ansonia, but grew so rapidly that a separate company as above was formed [...]”.
