Title |
Annular buckle |
||
Description |
English: Cast cu-alloy annular buckle dating from the medieval period, i.e. ca. AD1200-1400. The buckle is made up of a plain cast cu-alloy circle with a pin that can move around the frame freely. The pin is made up of twisted wire and looks shoddy compared to the good metal and make of the buckle frame. It is possible that the original pin was lost and replaced with this 'emergency' pin of twisted copper wire. The original pin would have been cast and made in one piece. |
