On August 20, 189S, the Committee on Plan and Organization issued an ad-dress to the press and public of the Mississippi Valley, asking for sugges-tions for anj^ part of a programme of exhibition or entertainment. The ad-dress reviewed the ideas already offered, as above noted, concluding ■v\4th anearnest appeal to the press to open its columns to a full discussion of thesubject, down to the minutest details. On Tuesday, September 27,1898, the Committee on Plan and Organizationheld an interesting meeting at the St. Nicholas Hotel. It was attended byseveral representatives of the St. Louis press.
