Herm, who also, at the request of the De-partment of Anthropology, made the anthropometric compu-tations, which were most detailed, comprising twenty-eightdifferent measurements upon each individual. In connectionwith this work Mr. Herm devised a unique and practicalcaliper which recorded from one position both the bigonialwidth and bigonial length of the face. In the early part of the year opportunity was found topursue further the investigations on the development of the redblood corpuscles in birds and amphibians. Many interestingobservations have been made and a program for more detailedstudy has been outlined. The department has already begun to prepare a comparativecollection of brains and spinal cords for the purpose of sta-tistical and topographical study as well as for museum demon- Under the Department of Anatomy and Physiology.
