At the 8th shot the mechanism becameconq)letely locked, necessitating a delay of 0 minutes to clear it. It ap-peared that a shell had jammed in the barrel so tightly that the lockcouhl not be withdrawn. It was rannned out from foiward. The recoil amounted to 2 or 3 inches at each discharge. The accuracyAvas very bad, the last shots of this series falling at least 50 or (50 yardsto the left and beyond the target. The inventor was rc(iuested to fire 12 sliots for ra))idity of fire. Timeto fire 11 shots, 30 seconds. It was observed that the crank worked withgreat difficulty, Mr. IJailey being oblige<l to use much force to make itmo\e through the LSOo necessary.
