ulting from the de-struction of buildings has been removed from the former site of theWest Boylston Manufacturing Companys property at Oakdale, andeither burned or placed in highway embankments ; the old canal atOakdale has been refilled. An important work was the final clean-ing of the reservoir bottom on the area to be flooded up to elevation330 ; the wooden bridges, ties, telegraph and telephone poles alongthe line of the Central Massachusetts Railroad in the district to beflooded were removed ; the ties, telegraph and telephone poles wereburned or sold for firewood, and the bridge lumber was eitherburned or hauled to a point above the flow line of the reservoir, andstored ; the soil on the embankments of the railroad was cast to thefoot of the slopes and covered with earth from the embankments toa depth of about 1 foot; all weeds and grass were mowed, and,together with the roots, etc., were burned over an area of 1,350acres.
