At the close ofthe prayer the swords are carried in a circle over the boxes, broughtto the lips, and all that is good in them is inhaled. The musicianspray aloud at the same time. The retired Hlemmosona stands atthe western entrance and observes the ceremonj with the deepestinterest. As soon as the Hlemmosona leaves the plaza the circledance begins. Before ^ oclock the Hlewekwe are assembled in the plaza todance. The women carry two eagle-wing feathers in the righthand, the sword in the left, except in the case of the most expertfemale sword-swallower, who has a sword in each hand. The Hle-wekwe dance three times in the plaza, and during the third dancethe leader, who is midway the dancers, takes from his three frater-
