If that which is herepresented serves as a basis for future investigation, and aids the Gov-ernment to a better understanding of the North American Indians, theauthor will have succeeded in her purpose. Whatever has been accomplished by the writer at Zuni and else-where is largely due to the training and instruction received from herlamented husband and companion, James Stevenson.
