Gibson, Deputy Minister of Minesfor Ontario, the writer joined the party which was in 1919 making a reconnaissancesurvey of the proposed extension of the Timiskaming and Xorthern Ontario rail-way from Cochrane to Moose Factory. He was instructed to examine care-fully the territory along the projected route and to confine the work to the pre-Cambrian area. The Paleozoic formations and clays were to be investigated, re-spectively, by M. Y. Williams and Joseph Keele, of the Department of Mines,Ottawa, Dr. Williams and Mr, Keele were to report upon mineral occurrences ofa non-metallic nature, and it was the writers duty also to examine and report indetail on the deposit of iro
