In some parts aggregatesof automorphic pyrite occur surrounded by borders of fibrous silica.^ On tlicsouthwest arm of the lake are dark, fine-grained, thin bedded rocks, of whichsome are thoroughly filled with pyrite and magnetite. Medicine rock, just outof water in the centre of the channel is apparently a mass of ore, while theweathered pyrite supplies the Indians with medicine. - A re-examination ofthis outcrop shows that it consists of verticallly dipping bands, which were recog-nixed from east and west as (1) finely contorted ferruginous schist, (2) a fairlv
