Foot of Wesley Lake—.Looking West. Wesley Lake. The Lakes continue places of recreation and popular enjoyment.Vigilant oversight is continually needed, that in the midst of innocencyand pleasure, nothing shall hurt or destroy. Sanitary inspection, police 24 OCEAN GROVE, N. J. diligence, and manual labor, are all needed in their time and turn.With these, good conditions have obtained, and the order good. Con-siderable work, too, has been done, in removing sand bars, putting in newand repairing old bulk heads along its shores ; also building new gates atthe flume next to the sea. The bulk heading, all along, needs overhaul-ing, and the Lake thoroughly cleaned. On the evening of August7th, a carnival of fine character was given by the Lake boys, and theinterest taken in such displays, was shown in the fact that 25,000 or30,000 spectators richly enjoyed the scene, and the order was excellentthroughout.

Fletcher l nt mi A.venue * Fletcher Lake. These fresh water lakes, are sources of safe enjoyment to vast numbersof the juvenile, as well as older visitors to Ocean Grove. Fishing onWesley Lake, for small varieties, and sailing on Fletcher Lake, havebeen exceptionally good this season. We were unfortunate at the footof this lake, during the summer, in having a break at the flume, and awashout beneath, by which the water slipped from us and went to sea,much to the annoyance of ourselves and others. No serious harm cameof it however, and the repairs were made without delay. Cost of repairing gates, dam, flume, carting out sand, cleaning at thehead ami west of railroad, $20l>.()0. TWENTY-THIRD ANNUAL REPORT. 25 Business Buildings. Bepairs were made at Ladomus Store, Van Gilluwes, McCabe andMargerums Butcher Shop, Fergusons Market, Olin Street Bakery, etc.,amounting to $350.00.
