The selection of a Sulky Hay Rake, which is now considered an indispensable implement on every well regulated farm, is a matter of. considerable importance to the farmer, and should com- mand his most careful attention. We do not claim to sell the only good reliable Rake on the market, but the manufacturers in the past five years have made and sold over 50,000 Tiger Self- Operating Rakes, and if there is one of these Rakes that has ever failed to do its work under any circumstances or condition of crop, or that has failed to satisfy the purchaser in every particular, we have never heard of it; and it is gratifying to know that in localities where they are already the most numerous, the demand is the greatest. The Tiger Rake belongs to that class that are termed " Self-operating " or Horse-dump Rakes. In Rakes of this class the labor of discharging the gathered load is transferred to the horse, instead of devolving upon the driver, and the latter is, therefore, relieved of the work which in hand-lever Rakes is always more or less arduous. The discharge is accomplished by simply pressing the foot upon a chain conveniently arranged for that purpose, and the teeth are thereby locked to the rotating axle, and, after being tilted and contents discharged by the movement of the horse, are automatically released and resume their work. Any boy or girl that can drive a horse can rake with it as well as the strongest man, as the horse does all the hard work; and this is a very important feature, for it is a notorious fact that farm labor is always scarce and high in harvest time. The teeth, which are the most important part of a Rake, are made of the best spring steel, tempered in oil, and each tooth is subjected to a severe test at the Factory, and are warranted to stand severest usage. The teeth run lightly on the ground, are easily adjusted, at the will of the operator, to any desired position, and will rake heavy green hay as well as light. The Rake is constructed of the best selected wood, iron, and steel, by experienced work- men, with machinery especially adapted for the purpose. We ask those who design to purchase a Hay Rake for the coming harvest, to read and examine the points peculiar to the Tiger, then, go to any neighbor who has used one and learn what is thought of it,— for the owners of the Tiger are its friends and strongest advocates, and to them we confidently and with pleasure refer. PRICE LIST. Manufacturer's J. Breck & Sons' Prices. Net Cash Prices. 20-teeth Rake $35-oo $30.00 On application will mail illustrated and descriptive circulars of the Tiger free.
