SWEET PEAS. Very beautiful, fragrant and at present extremely fashionable flower, free- flowering climber, continuing in bloom all the summer; supported by common pea sticks, they form admirable screens for protecting more tender plants or excluding unsightly objects; valuable for trailing or trellis work, covering rough fences, etc. Seeds should be sown as early in the spring as is practicable to work the ground, and covered deeply, four to six inches. Owing to the advantages of root growth, under cool conditions, in which they thrive much better, produce more vigorous vines and profuse blooms than when exposed to our hot summer suns. Six feet. Cupid. (Dwarf.) "Cupid" is the name of a new sweet pea, which grows but five inches high, and yet this tiny plant is literally covered with perfectly- formed blossoms of the purest white. This floral wonder orig- inated on the Pacific coast. The foliage is a rich, dark green, and the plant stands upright, having no tendency to trail or climb. The stems are about four inches long, bearing two or three blossoms, all very near the end of the stem. It is a free bloomer and begins to flower as early as May and continues until November. Price per pkt., ioc; oz., 30c. American Belle. Flowers of good substance, large, finely- formed, arid the standard does not droop. The flowers remain perfect and keep well in a bouquet for a long time. In color the standard is a clear bright rose of uniform coloring ; wings of crystal white, with distinct purplish-carmine spots and blotches. Price per pkt., 5c; oz., ioc; lb., 90c. Apple Blossom.
