f St. Viateurs College f HISTORICAL LOCATION St. Viateurs College is situated in Bourbonnais, a village ofideal pastoral quietude. It is distant fifty-six miles from Chicagoand three miles from Kankakee. Its site, on the old LevasseurHill, overlooking a scene of rural peace and plenty, just on theverge of an extensive grove of forest trees and hard by the banksof the Kankakee river, is peculiarly beautiful and healthy. The pure and bracing open air, the romantic scenery, theabundance of game in and along the river, have made Kankakeea favorite resort of pleasure and health seekers. Near enough toenjoy the advantages of the city when needed, the College is farenough removed from its distractions and moral dangers. It iswell known that retirement from the noisy scenes of the streetand from the distractions of the city is most favorable to, if notindispensable for, deep study, as well as for the formation of goodhabits.
