English: Drawing of a portion of the skeleton of an ichthyosaur (Temnodontosaurus platyodon[1]) found in 1812 by Joseph and Mary Anning.

Author Everard Home (1756 - 1832)

This was the first such fossil to come to the attention of the scientific community in London, and would be the first to be named Ichthyosaurus, by Charles Konig of the British Museum in 1817.
