Curtisville, Mass.
Berkshire Co.,
Aug. 7, 1888.
My dear Miss Longfellow,
Have intended to write to you ever since I reached here, but we have had house full of company all the summer and has kept us very busy.
Very sorry you could not attend the graduation in Framingham last spring.
Water [sic] & I spent two [p. 2] days in Malden with Mrs. Spring all who was at Hampton several years, before she was married; and we had a very pleasant time.
We had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Geo. L. Brown’s paintings in his house, which were very beautiful indeed.
Walter spent the Sunday of that week, with Gen. Marshall. He invited me also but could not as I had promised to spend the Sunday with some friends in Pitts- [p. 3] field; where I had a pleasant time.
Rec’d letter from Miss Folsom last week . She told me, you, she, Miss Richards & Gen. Armstrong. are going west before very long. What a very pleasant party you are to have! Am very sure you will have a very delightful trip.
Hope you will receive this before your start for the west, as it carries a good-bye to you with my best wishes for a very lovely trip, also.
[p. 4] Have enjoyed my vacation so far, though I have been busy.
With a grateful heart for all your kindness, which will never be forgotten.
Annie R. Dawson.
