It is also a matter of tradition that, on oneof his voyages to that point, his family accompanied him, to make a home in New Jersey. That hisfamily removed to New Jersey is clearly established, as his widow married there, as did, also, some ofhis children. The latter, so far as ascertained, were : i. Ann Sears. 2. Sarah Sears, who marriedNicholas Sooy. 3. Josephus Sears, born 6 March, 1767; married (i), 13 September, 1789, CatharineCarter; (2), 6 July, 1812, Achsah, widow of Chalkley Cranmer, and daughter of Captain John Leake.4. Paul Sears, born 28 April, 1769 : died 18 April, 1848 ; married Patience Ware. Mr. Coffin married his widow,Mrs. Parnel (Hammond) Sears, and daughter of Josephus Hammond, ofRochester, by his wife, Thankful Winslow. (See Hammond Family, No. 3.)Mrs. Coffin was bom at Rochester, 24 March, 1736, and died at Hammonton,New Jersey, 22 January, 1817, having married, as third husband, Burdsall % Tyler.
