The Secretary of the StateBoard of Health of Pennsylvania, Dr.Benjamin Lee, has been designated acommissioner on the part of theUnited States, to meet commissionersappointed by the State of Delaware,and, in conjunction with them, tolocate and fix the boundaries of thisreservation. This preliminary will bespeedily settled, and work will be be-gun at an early date. The fumigatingsteamer for the station is now in pro-cess of construction at the Pusey &Jones Companys extensive works, atWilmington, Del. Adulterated Food and Drugs.—The Massachusetts State Board ofHealth in its monthly bulletin makessome striking revelations respectingthe food market in that Common-wealth. The analysis made by theBoard in April shows that of 522 arti-cles of food or of drugs examined,

Howard murphey THE ANNALS OF HYGIENE. 4i7 205 were more or less adulterated.Among the more notable intancesnoted are : Of 258 samples of milkexamined, 122 were adulterated orfound to vary from the legal standard.Of 5 samples of lard, all were adulte-rated ; 11 out of 59 specimens ofspices fell below the standard, as didalso 11 out of 16 samples of maple-syrup, and 9 out of 19 samples ofmaple-sugar. In the case of molas-ses, of 28 samples 8 were adulterated,while 11 out of 18 samples of vinegarwere found to be so treated. Means to Prevent the Spreadof Typhoid Fever.-The New Haven,Conn., Board of Health issued thefollowing :— Have thepatient sleep alone. Burnall food left by the patient. Boil all dishes for fifteen minutesimmediately after the patient hasfinished using them. Clothing removed from the patientand bed clothing should be disinfectedby soaking them for half an hour in aweak solutio
