Summary
[edit]DescriptionAnkle Boots worn by Cecelia Kimmick.jpg |
English: Pair of child's small black leather button up boots, 1910. These boots were worn by Cecelia (Kimmick) Krumrey, who arrived in St. Louis on the orphan train in 1910. Cecelia was then adopted by the Krumrey family, who had been expecting to adopt a girl named Emma. It is believed that Cecelia and Emma switched jackets (and with them, ribbons with their identification numbers) on the train. Only after bringing Cecelia home and finding her name insider her boots did the Krumreys realize that they did not have the child originally intended for them. They learned later that Emma had gone to live with a family in Illinois. Title: Ankle Boots worn by Cecelia Kimmick |
