Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch dating to the early medieval period (AD 450 - AD 600).

The fragment comprises the flat foot of the brooch in the form of an animal head. The head is sub rectangular in form, consiiting of a central shaft which flares out towards a flat triangular base with rounded edges, The shaft is flanked by two circular protrusions, often described as 'nostrils' above which are curved linear bands. The underside of the brooch is plain, with some iron staining present.
