Anglo Saxon cruciform brooch foot.
Description
English: Copper alloy Anglo Saxon cruciform long brooch foot. The zoomorphic terminal has a spade-like snout decorated with two incised V-shaped lines. Two sets of two V-shaped lines, pointing in opposite directions decorate the triangular sectioned face, along with a double line of dots running along the bridge of the nose. The ears are triangular, with two lines of dots running along top. Transverse lines decorate the remainder of the foot. Catchplate complete. Dark brown patina, with areas of green & orange pitting. Length 57.12mm, width (top)14.6 (ears)15.2 (snout)15.6mm, thickness (ears)8.02 (end of snout)2.0 (across catchplate)13.02mm, weight 19.66g.
