Title
Anglo-Scandinavian stirrup terminal
Description
English: Incomplete copper alloy stirrup terminal. The terminal is the upper part of a highly decorative crested animal head type found in East Anglia and Lincolnshire. The fragment is semi-circular in cross-section and has two moulded transverse ribs with a recessed shank extending from it. The collared end of the terminal is original and complete; the shank end is broken. There is no iron corrosion on the reverse, rather than there is a whitish paste.
