Anglo-Saxon crucifrom brooch, Elm, Cambs.
Description
English: Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch, Lower bow and upper footplate. Hollow-backed bow with median groove and twin engraved lines on rectangular moulding forming facets at base. Lappets in form of opposed S-shaped mouldings on both sides of footplate with large ring-and-dot. Hollow-backed half-round moulding of two broad grooves between three ribs, two with traces of pair of engraved lines, third divided by vertical notch to form eye brows. Broken beneath protruding eyes terminal missing. Damaged catchplate on reverse. Width 30mm. Length 60mm.
