Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch fragment, Hevingham, Norfolk.
Description
English: Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch fragment, head-plate with vertical lines of annulet stamps at junction with flared wings, side knobs missing, integral terminal knob cast in the form of a transversely collared half round animal-head with nose, brow and protruding eyes and nostrils and remains of probable semi-circular or lunate plate projecting from muzzle. Broken at springing of bow (ancient breaks) >40 x >45mm. Single lug with corroded remains of iron pin on reverse. Ancient breaks. 6th century.
