Anglo-Saxon copper alloy girdle hanger
Description
English: Fragment of an early Anglo-Saxon copper alloy girdle hanger. Only the tip of one of the hangers survives. The shank is rectangular in plan and in section, and has a ledge and collar above leading up to the suspension loop. The loop is set at 90 degrees to the plane of the shank. The face of the shank is decorated with a central row of punched circles. Iron corrosion is visible around the loop.
